SCOREBUILDERS is the fulfillment of Robert Axelrod’s vision to share his knowledge and techniques garnered from a solid NYC public school education and three degrees – two in engineering and an MBA – and careers in engineering, financial services management, teaching and consulting.
Bob merges his academic background with his work experiences to solve seemingly complex problems — As an engineer, he applied academic principles to successfully assure that the Apollo 15 mission’s mapping camera, which produced the first maps of Earth’s moon, were analyzed and designed to satisfy NASA’s temperature ranges for the entire mission. These thermal conditions were critical to the lens’ precision and the accuracy of the resultant filmed images.
Bob teaches how to solve problems in an imperfect world, requiring detective work, discipline and focus. Having managed large, diverse financial operations and having consulted for twenty years, Bob understands how to prepare students for the more sophisticated problems that require students to navigate through what appears to be mysterious but — when armed with insight — becomes familiar and manageable.
Bob spends 100% of each session reviewing interactively with the student actual problems from the source materials published by the test makers — the College Board (SATs) or the Official ACT Prep Guide. Students and parents can be assured the efforts of each session are efficient, familiarizing the student with the nuances that only reviewing authentic testmaker material can provide.
